Tower Hamlets & the City sent 9 delegates to Harrogate to represent our district at Annual Conference 2025 this April. We are proud that our delegation was made up of members from all types of schools and from all of the equalities strands. The delegates have the important role of voting on all the motions presented and making sure that our districts needs and concerns are represented in the union’s agenda for next year. Maria, our Independent Schools Officer, gave a passionate speech on the inequalities of the UK’s SEND provision and Rae, our Equalities Officer, spoke on Cuban teacher training practices at the Cuba Fringe. Our SEND Officer Griffiths wrote a report on SEND issues in the union. You can read the report and Maria’s speech here. We are extremely proud that our brilliant, fierce and passionate District and Branch Secretaries Natasha, Lucy and Rosie won the London Officers’ of the Year award.
We are keen to take an equally passionate and energetic delegation to Annual Conference next year. If you are interested check here for more details: NEU Annual Conference.
